Anoushka Shankar – sitar and orchestra in a cinematic soundscape.
Sitar virtuoso and composer Anoushka Shankar returns to DE SINGEL. With Chapters – a trilogy of EPs in which she explores deeply personal, thematic journeys – Shankar takes one step further in her musical world. The music from this series gives rise to a new orchestral programme, arranged and conducted by Robert Ames. The programme was premiered at the BBC Proms with London Contemporary Orchestra.
In this orchestral version, Shankar’s characteristic interplay between classical Indian sitar and contemporary sound worlds is further expanded. Intimate compositions unfold into layered, cinematic soundscapes.
During this concert, an enchanting soundscape unfolds, moving gradually from hushed, almost ambient passages towards a more powerful, more dynamic sound world – arriving at a space of fresh hope.
